Ignorance Is Bliss...

...for instance, Trevor found a grey hair on my head at church yesterday. We're not sure where it came from, because it's not mine. I've never had a grey hair. The crazy thing was that it was attached to my head. We just can't unravel this little mystery.

Here's another "for instance". Many of you faithful blog readers know that we moved from San Jose a year ago. Trevor and I were talking about it last night. We were remembering the little house and I remarked how awesome it was that we had never seen any rodents while we lived there, even though we knew they were nestled all snug in our attic and walls. I'd heard stories from my San Jose friends about all their rat encounters (running across power lines and watching one die in the middle of her garage), and I would get queasy.
I detest mice. Quadruple that for rats. My sweet husband informed me last night that he did see rats in our house. Come again? RATS in my what now? Yes. Rats in the house. He saw a rat in the garage and another one on top of the cabinets in the kitchen. I threw up a little in my mouth. Eew! Rats in the kitchen? My cute, clean kitchen, with the cute, green walls. I was so freaked out. He knew I would react like that, which is why he never told me. He felt it safe to tell me now. I live in a different house, 6 hours away and a year has passed. Smart, smart man. Suffice it to say, ignorance was bliss.

Yeah, we had mice in SJ, too. (Well, in our old house, not this one... I think.) It's much better not to know.

And about the mayo cake... you're asking a lot, lady. That's a secret family recipe!! I might post it, though... I shouldn't keep all that chocolately goodness to myself, right? It's not very Christian of me. :)

Yuck! It's one thing to have those fancy rats as pets, but yuck those rabies infested sewer type rats...like Ratatouille? NO THANKS!

Oh - what a guy not to tell you. That is true love.

All the exterminators here advertise about roof rats. All I know is they are supposedly in areas of Mesa - which is far from me! I can't let my mind go any further than that.

He is so nice to not tell you and freak you out. Yuck. Rats, mice and snakes - I can't handle any of them.

HA I had a boyfriend went to San Jose to sell pest control for the summer. I didn't think the large problem had to do with rats too....YUCK.

I know the rats of which he speaks. We encountered one dead on our doormat one morning and another one on the sidewalk just outside...luckily never within our walls! I am with you on the rat/mice loathing! Glad you're rat free now :)

Um, we've already scheduled our appointments. Each within 2 weeks of the last one, so that we all can help out with eachother's kids while one heals..ha
And how many more are you having?

So funny. The gray hair though..I can answer that mystery. Surely one of your kids or Trevor (I guess the same thing :) ) super glued it to your head while you were sleeping to freak you out. :) And the rats....gross. I wish you would have waited another year to tell us. I just threw up in my mouth a little too!

Melissa is now being a brat just for fun. It's a GIRL! Don't tell her I told you. I'm going tonight to see her. Yay! She's going home tomorrow morning, so hopefully she'll post it soon.

Gray hair...it's totally not yours. You should probably hire a private investigator to find out who planted it on you - so rude! That's funny about Trevor. Not to propose having an indoor cat, but if you hate mice and rats that much, if you have an outdoor cat, you will never see a rodent!

I got the total heebie-jeebies!! I hate, hate, hate those things. We had them in our house growing up but I usually didn't see them until they were dead in the trap and that was awful! We had one in our apartment in Provo and I wouldn't get off the bed unless I had to and then I would run to the couch, table, etc. until it was caught! By the way, I refuse to even examine my hair, especially now that the three-oh has hit!
