is not a t.v. network. It's a 5 year old boy. Carson Walker turned the big oh-five today. He's been super stoked for this day. It means that, come this spring, he'll be able to play baseball. We've been waiting 6 months for today. Now we just have to wait 6 more before he can actually play. Waiting is a...pain.

Carson woke us up this morning at 6:30am. He crawled into bed with me, hugged me and said, "I'm so essscited!" He asked if he could open presents, and I agreed he could IN MY BEDROOM. He ran downstairs to get them. I followed 3 minutes later and he had half of them open already. Not so patient, this kid. He doesn't know I'm holding out on him. We have a few more, bigger gifts for tonight.
Carce has had a great year. Preschool is getting better. He still is my little shadow/tumor all day long. I wonder if the day will come when I'll actually miss that little leach following me around. His best friend is his brother and he can be pretty possessive of him. He loves his sister, but will still push her down if she touches his toys. He can be such a sweetheart to her, too. She loves giving him kisses and hugs. She's even starting to say his name. Besides the easy ones (mommy, daddy), Carson, is the first name she's learned.
It's no secret that Carson has always been our "unique" child. I say that with all the love in my heart, truly. I can't imagine how mundane our lives would be without him. Just the other day, after we had dropped off Preston at school, Carson asked what a crosswalk was. I explained it. A few minutes later my confused 4 (almost 5) year old asked, "How did Jesus die on a crosswalk?" I resisted my urge to say that some Roman guards weren't paying attention whilst driving down a road in Jerusalem and instead reminded him that Jesus died on a cross, not a crosswalk. Carson keeps our brains on their toes.
Despite his disdain for most everyone outside our family circle, Carson is my most affectionate child. He is always wanting to snuggle, or hug, or be tickled. I definitely will miss that when he grows out of it.

As for likes and dislikes, Cars are still a favorite, but I'm afraid they may be taking a backseat (pun intended) to Star Wars. Trevor couldn't be prouder, I couldn't be less thrilled. I could spell and pronounce all of the Cars character's names. Star Wars is something I can't wrap my head around.
He's still the little outdoors man. He is at home in dirt and mud and isn't deterred by the rain or the heat or the earthquakes. He's so funny. I wish I could describe it with words, the kid has perfect comedic timing. His voice, his facial expressions, his ability to put potty words into any song. It's a talent, folks.
We had a great night tonight. After a LOT of phone calls, he was able to open the rest of his gifts (more blasted Star Wars toys). He was getting pretty exasperated with all the phone calls. I think he has more than a little Grandpa Kent in him. Not a big phone guy. I appreciated everyone that remembered, though. Secretly, I think he enjoyed the attention.
I can't believe my baby boy is 5. I have the feeling that he'll remain 3 years old in my mind for a long time. Carson is really such a great kid. He's a blast to have around and keeps things from getting too serious. We love him to billions of pieces and are almost always proud to call him our son.

It just doesn't get much better than that. I mean, it is already so amazing to be a mom...I can't fathom how it gets better. And being the mom of a son is fantastic. I am so glad you cherish him. I have a unique one, too. They were sent to us for a reason!!!
Happy Birthday!!
Shadow/tumor? That is hilarious. I have one of those right now.
He really is SO cute!
He is sooo cute! Happy birthday carson! Wish we could have been there!
I love your Shadow/Tumor analogy, that is Jake right now. It's been 2 months and he still won't stay in Nursery. Happy Birthday Carson.
Your post fits Carson to a "T". He is such a great kid. Wish we could be around him a little more, sigh....Love you all.
Seriously, how do you not let him do anything in this world, he is that cute!!!!

Happy Birthday Carson!! I just love the quirkiness of a second child. We've got one here, that's for sure.
I think that Carson and I might be on the same train track! Wish we all lived closer so we could keep one another laughing through the tears!!! (Did I mean years?) :o)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARSON!
Eleven more days and I get to hug five year old Carson!
Such cute pictures! I remember him in nursery with his fake mohawk. He was so cute!! I can't believe that much time has gone by already. Happy Birthday!!
5 already? I was thinking he just turned 4! Where did the time go. Oh, and as for the shadow thing? Aidan was literally attached to my side for the longest time. Now we can barely tear him away from his friends. Secretly it kind've makes me a little sad. Never thought I'd say that though.
