Nothing To Say

Really. Nothing is happening. Trevor still works.

~No real reason for this picture, save that I think he's so cute.~

I still attend to my mother/wife duties. Preston is still in 3rd grade, and piano (did I not mention piano before?). Carson still hates school, 1st grade, getting up in the morning, getting dressed, going to church, putting on shoes, cleaning up, doing homework, reading, going to bed, brushing teeth, eating certain foods, going certain places, and occasionally hates me, his brother and/or sister. Abby still loves preschool and has a new found love of shopping. Will is seeing the effects of his walking and is thinning out nicely. He is getting into EVERYTHING. I think it's funny. Trevor does not.

~Getting into the pantry. Soooo cute!~

~"Snuggling" Abby to sleep?~

We did happen to take in an Angel game a couple weeks ago. Please see accompanied pictures.

~"A" for Andersen...I mean Angels.~

~Jeff Mathis at bat. He's our favorite.~

~Watching the game.~

~Sticky cotton candy hands. I love it.~

~I love this little nose twitching face.~

~The media guys. We were so close to them.~

~Carson couldn't make it upstairs when we got home.~

Last Friday, we went to Disneyland. We got onto the tram at 6:55pm and were informed that the "Happiest Place on Earth" would be closing at 7:00. Thank goodness for California Adventure. Our passes expire in two weeks (or Carson's does), and speaking of Carson...the little boy who hated Disneyland, now loves it. Just in time.

Little League Champs

~Showing off his first place medal.~

The AA Angels are the 2010 Little League Champs. Preston had a great year. His hitting came alive, especially at the end of the year. The only post season game he didn't have a hit in was the championship...of course. It didn't stop him from having a great time and making some kick-A memories.

~Scenes from the final moments in the dugout (the running joke was that Preston's shoes were always untied) and the celebratory team.~

~The teams presented the medals to each other. Quite a cute moment for the moms.~

~The after party where they got pizza, cookie pie and their 2010 tropheys. As a side note, we loved Coach John.~

Derby Dummies

~I forgot my good camera. I really miss it when I don't have it.~

Well, we've survived our first Pine Wood Derby. The most important thing to me was that Preston had so much fun. The most important thing to Trevor was that it was a learning experience and we have 1000 ideas for next year. I won't mention that 998 of those ideas I suggested several weeks ago and was promptly shut down. But after talking to people who know what they're doing, Trevor has jumped on board the polished axle train (derby talk). It's not like I did hours of research online for tips on creating the fastest car. Nope. I'm just a girl with no derby experience.

~Recieving his trophy and a look at the track.~

He did win the award for the "sleekest car", but we aren't fooled by consolation prizes! I'm totally kidding. Sort of. His results weren't terrible. He was right in the middle of the pack. At one point, after a less impressive run, I saw him rub his eyes. I think he was fighting a particularly embarrassing emotion. A few minutes later, though, he was back with his buddies and they were carrying on in their loud obnoxious 8 year old ways. Overall, I'll deem it a success. The free breakfast helped.

~The fabulous people who came out to support him (Papa, Mimi, and Uncle Vance).~

After the derby, we had just minutes to spare to get him geared up and over to his third baseball game. He was the starting catcher and was even the lead off hitter! What a change from last year! He is really doing well both at the plate and behind it. So far his batting average is .750;) I really don't think he's had a frustrating or negative moment in a game or at a practice this year. He's LOVING it! And we are loving watching him be awesome!

I know this post is braggy. Deal with it. We're super proud of this dude.

~At first after one of his hits.~

~Behind the plate. It makes my thighs burn just thinking about that crouch.~

~Opening Day.~

~I think I mentioned before how awesome his coaches are. This is Coach Tom. He's been involved in Little League since 1978.~

~His fans, reading a book, playing a game on Trevor's phone and keeping Will from being mauled. I swear we were paying attention to the game too!~

~A sweet one of Lily and Abby on Opening Day.~

~Bet you can guess that the stupid Chick-fil-a cow was at opening day.~

Switching gears to Carson. I took him to Chick-fil-a the other day for lunch. It's a weekly tradition with Heather, Luke and Lily. He asked if he could turn in his kid meal toy for an ice cream cone (I love that they do this and that I don't have to take those chintzy toys home). After I gave my consent, he rushed off to the front counter. He got halfway there and came to a screeching halt, whipped around and sprinted back to me to give me a swift kiss on my cheek. He didn't give a reason, didn't say one word, he just bolted back to get his ice cream. You read it right. CARSON spontaneously kissed me. I am not ashamed to admit that it made me tear up a bit. I work, clean, cook, iron (well, not iron) weeks and weeks for moments like that. It's why I love being a mom.
P.S. I just realized I never let you know Preston's Cardiologists first name. It's Eugene. Eugene Hwang. It cracks me up.

I Love March

~Preston March 3, 2010. After 5 years he's finally an Angel!~

Can you smell that? It's the smell of baseball season. Preston has been so excited for his 5th season to start. Unfortunately, Opening Day was rained out last Saturday but we are pushing through with it this weekend, even if another storm is in the forecast.

~At Second.~

He had his first game on Wednesday and played like an Andersen should (can't help it-we had more ball players). He started at second (but saw no action) and was 1-1 on offense. For some reason, he had lost a lot of his confidence last year, but it seems to be back. He's much more aggressive at the plate.

~His lone at bat. This was his hit.~

~Our boy.~

He had a great practice yesterday too. Afterward, two of his coaches came up to me to tell me they had been working with Preston in all things catcher. Evidently, he's a natural (Aunt Heather are you listening?). They were so impressed with his focus (really) and ability to adapt to everything they were dishing out to him. They wanted to make sure I was okay with him getting some time behind the plate in our next game. He was pretty pleased with himself on the car ride home;) I'm not ashamed, but Trevor might be, to admit that we teared a little with pride. We are just so ecstatic that he's loving it and doing a decent job. It's a parents greatest joy to see their child bursting with confidence after such a horrible previous year. Preston has really come into his own over the past 6 months or so. I attribute most of it to his progress in school. That confidence in himself has spilled over to all the other aspects of his life. It's not just baseball. We are just so happy that he is happy.

~Post game pep talk. We couldn't ask for a better coach.~

Anyway, we're off to a great start. I thought it would be fun to take a look back to see my little baseball stud in his early years. I love watching his face plump back up to that little cherub mug. I love it, but at the same time it makes my heart a little sad to watch him grow up so fast.

~2009 season as a Cardinal. They were also the 2009 Champions.~

~He spent the majority of the year doing the above. His nickname was "magnet".~

~Showing off his game ball.~

~2008 season as a Yankee (Trevor had a hard time with that).~

~Pres only entered home one way. No matter what.~

~A great shot of the ball. Had to throw it in!~

~Innings can get long.~

~2007 Season as a Met ("At least he's not a Yankee" was Trev's reaction.~

~Mom successfully distracting him.~

~This season was cut short by our move to SoCal.~

~His very first season as a Giant in 2006. I love T-ball!~

~I also love the "too big" equipment!~

Fathers, Sons, Baseball And A Dash Of Camping

Baseball has officially ended (except for the end of season party). We are happily sad. Preston's team was in the championship game on Saturday. At 8:00am. This unfortunately meant that my boy's father/son camp out was cut short. They drove up for dinner Friday night, and then left the campground at 9:45pm. Carson was bummed there wasn't a fire. Or s'mores. Or even a tent to sleep in. We're going to have to go camping soon I think.

~A cute picture of my boys taken with a crummy old camera.~

On a side note; I can't wait to sleep on an air mattress pregnant...again! Seriously. I did it when I was 7 months pregnant with Carson. I love to camp and we haven't been since Carson was a year and a half. I'm ruining our fun again this year by forcing the boys to miss the annual hunting trip in August. The nerve of me having another baby. I should really plan these things out more methodically.

~Carson was stained with orange snow cone juice for two days. Well worth it he'd tell you.~

Back to baseball. The game went well. Preston played well. He didn't have any action out in left field, but he backed up 3rd base like nobodies business. There was a tense moment when his pregnant mother almost charged the ump over a bad strike call. How can it be a strike when it hits the plate? Preston's even-keeled coach was almost tossed out over it. Like I said, it got a little tense. It was a great game and they walked away with a 9-8 win to take first place. One of the assistant coaches told me Preston was tearing up after the game, he was so excited. I was rather hoarse from all the pitch protesting. We are so proud of Preston's attitude and all his hard work. He completely deserves his obnoxiously over-sized trophy that I get to store for the next 13 years.

~Brushed back. We called him the magnet all year.~

~I think his smile says it all.~

~The obnoxious trophy.~

~The Fam after the game.~

Carson's last game, I'm sorry to say, we missed. It broke my heart a little bit. Trevor's aunt and uncle asked me to take pictures of their family in Sacramento this past weekend. We left immediately after Preston's game to make the 6 hour journey north. Carson's game didn't start until 4:30pm, so we had Aunt Cindy pinch hit for us. She said he was great and even participated. I guess when mom's not there to distract him into clinging onto her every appendage, he's more focused on the game. Aunt Cindy also braved two after-game pizza parties. We thank her most sincerely.

~Carson catching with Dad's help (this was his second to last game).~

~Watching Preston play. I dug his accessorizing skills.~

Sacramento was great fun. It's always entertaining to visit with the Don Miles clan and I got another hit from my Baby Dean addiction. I only took pictures of Abby from the trip, my camera seemed to only want to focus on her and not her parents. Odd. I am planning a little photo session with my princess and a certain petti skirt we got in the mail. It was handmade with love and frustration by Grandma Louise and it is TO DIE FOR! My mother is amazing. Really. Stay tuned for that.

~Toys or a green rubber tub? She went with the green rubber tub.~

Once again, a huge thank you to Auntie Cindy for watching the boys (and girls) for us. And thanks to Uncle Don and Aunt Sharene for the opportunity to hang with ya'll.
