My Day (a.k.a. Mother's Day) started out on Wednesday. Carson's preschool class had their annual Mother's Day Tea. It was, as expected, adorable. The children were instructed to seat their mother's at their assigned spot at the table. Carson hid from me, until his teacher forced him to crawl over to me and show me my spot. He's obviously so proud of me. Then they served us turkey wraps, fruit and cookies. Carson threw my napkin at me. In his defense, I sat against the wall surrounded by other mothers. I was tough to reach and he doesn't like contact with strangers. At least he didn't throw the food.
~Lemonade anyone?~
The kids each answered a series of questions about their mom. According to Carson, my name is Brenda. I have blue eyes and brown hair (so far so good). I am ten years old (even better) and my favorite thing to wear is my green shirt (sure). My favorite place to eat is Chronic Taco (I do enjoy it) and my favorite thing to do is play cards with Carson. Interesting. I do love playing games with him, but I'm pretty sure we stick to Chutes and Ladders and Operation Hulk. Still, he knows me pretty well.
They had a couple of songs prepared for us. Again, adorable. Carson actually sang. Out loud. In front of people. That would have been gift enough for me, but then he gave me a plaster hand print.

~My and my right hand man.~
I had to fight back tears. I have an excuse. One, I'm pregnant and it doesn't take much for the water works to start. Two, I made an almost identical hand print for my mother when I was 5 years old. I can't wait to compare them.
The official Mom's Day was fabulous. Just fabulous. I was awoken at the appropriate time of 7:25am and presented with this...

~My loot. Preston made the beaded keychain and you can see Carson's plaster hand print on the right.~
Then we headed off to church, where I got more chocolate and a very inspiring quote from Abraham Lincoln, "Every thing I am or hope to be, I owe to my mother." The cute cards above, with each of the kiddo's picture, were from Primary. I heart primary.
After church, I was sent to my room, was served "lunch in bed" and left to my own devices. I was left alone all day. I watched what I wanted on T.V. I read. I napped. I read some more.

~Yep. This is how hot I look in the morning. Jealous?~
I did venture downstairs for dinner (tri-tip...mmm). I didn't do one dish (and there weren't any for me to do the next morning). I didn't change one diaper. I didn't have to get one snack, one drink, or put on one movie or cartoon. I wasn't hounded by any squabbling or whining and didn't here the words "Mom! I need you", once. It was the most fabulous day. I was honestly a little bummed to go to bed and realize it was back to reality in the morning.

Thank you, Trevor for such a perfect day of "me" time and thank you, kids for obeying Daddy when he told you to just leave mommy alone. I love you all so much and there is nothing in this world I would rather be doing than being your mommy!

Perfect day indeed!
I love your posts, you are so creative and funny and that camera must be glued to you. You capture some great memories. I need to be more like you. I am trying. You are beautiful.

Sounds fabulous. The best part of mine was the fact that the boys were over at their Grandma's overnight, so we got to sleep in also.
Otherwise, there was cleaning for, cooking and cleaning up after the dinner I put on for my Mom and Aunt and siblings. Oh well. My favorite part of Mother's Day is the awesome stuff the kids make at school/church.
Glad you had such a perfect day! I love that picture of your kids walking hand in hand. It is priceless. Love you all :)
Brenda,
Glad you had a great day. I think Mother's Day should be at least once a month. Tell Trevor Aunt Dee Ann has decreed it!!! I have a Mother's Day at least once a week! Ha Love the pictures..........
I think you were a little more spoiled on Mothers Day than I was, but then I'm not pregnant with 3 little kids, you deserve it. I sure hope I know where that hand print of yours is. I may have to tear the house apart to find it! Love the picures as usual.
that french toast looks amazing! I am jealous! Excited to see you this weekend :)
